Role Summary

Candescent is transforming digital banking with a modern, AI-powered platform that empowers financial institutions to deliver smarter, faster, and more personalized customer experiences.

We’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing Data Engineering team. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining components across our data stack, which handles approximately a terabyte of data from the personal banking domain. You’ll be instrumental in translating business requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions with minimal oversight.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure solutions align with development standards and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the development lifecycle, delivering high-performance, reliable systems that meet our uptime and scalability expectations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software development.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud-based Data Engineering solutions.
• Expertise in Python, PySpark, Dataproc, Cloud Functions, and Airflow Composer.
• Proficiency with NoSQL databases like BigQuery and Firestore.
• Strong grasp of data warehousing and database design principles.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with query optimization.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale datasets and build high-performance applications.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to take full ownership of solution design, implementation, and release.
• Familiarity with GIT workflows for version control.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud ecosystems.
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Bonus: Exposure to BI tools such as Looker, experience with Bigtable, Redis, Databricks, Java, Kubernetes, and Docker.

Preferred:

• Deep understanding of Data Platforms, Data Warehouse-centric, and Lakehouse-centric architectures.
• Familiarity with modular and extensible platforms that support dynamic feature invocation.
• Background in highly regulated industries, especially financial services or banking.
• Passion for security, scalability, and delivering seamless user experiences.
