Role Summary

Candescent is redefining digital banking through a modern, AI-driven platform that enables financial institutions to deliver smarter, faster, and more personalized customer experiences. We are looking for a skilled Senior Development Engineer in Test to lead quality initiatives for our Transaction Store stack.

This role will play a key part in ensuring the quality of our data ingestion, transform as well as REST APIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead quality and automation efforts for Candescent’s Transaction Store, which manages digital banking data such as Accounts, Transactions, and Customers in the personal banking domain.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to validate scalable data capabilities.
• Ensure high quality across both new and existing features within the data platform.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using SQL, Python, Postman, and similar tools.
• Apply working knowledge of DevOps practices and automated build tools.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Contribute to requirements gathering and documentation processes.
• Establish and adhere to core engineering practices to uphold software quality. Embrace an agile mindset and operate effectively in a fast-paced scrum environment, including supporting critical production issues.
• Champion an “automate everything” approach across the engineering lifecycle.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, including at least 3 years focused on testing APIs and data platforms.
• Strong expertise in testing both streaming and batch data pipelines, database and file-based ingestions, and REST APIs on the Google Cloud platform.
• Hands-on experience validating scalable systems with both internal and external data ingestion pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance automation and improve overall productivity.
• Strong technical acumen with excellent troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.
• Solid understanding of non-functional aspects of large-scale systems, including performance, scalability, availability, and security.
• Ability to understand upstream and downstream systems and design data transformations that can be reused across multiple consumers.
• Deep knowledge of File formats, HTTP, TCP, and other network protocols, including secure communication standards.
• Familiarity with security standards in the financial services industry.
• Experience in implementing effective testing strategies for various system integrations.
• Strong domain knowledge in financial services and banking systems.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks and Selenium is an added advantage.
