Key to our unique model are Canapi’s deep relationships with a network of banks and strategic partners (“the Fintech Alliance”), enabling us to connect our portfolio companies to the financial service leaders who may become their future clients.
Canapi is headquartered in Washington, DC with additional offices in Wilmington, NC and New York, NY. Currently the team is operating in a hybrid model with some working part-time in office and others working remotely. Starting in Q4 2021, existing and new team members will begin spending considerable time in the Washington, DC office.
Platform Associate Role As our first Platform Associate, you will play a leading role in accelerating the build-out of our platform: Fintech Alliance engagement, thought leadership, portfolio company support, and network analytics. You will work extensively with the Head of the Fintech Alliance and investment team members also. An ideal colleague for this role will be passionate about technology, start-ups, VC investing and operations, and ecosystem building. We are looking for someone that can not only execute ongoing initiatives but can also bring creative ideas for developing and disseminating our expertise, helping our portfolio companies grow their businesses, and delivering strategic value to our Fintech Alliance institutions. You’ll love this role if you are a generalist – you will need to comfortable driving different projects simultaneously and building productive relationships with many different stakeholders.
The Platform Associate’s work scope will include the following responsibilities. • Assist with market or thematic research and analyses to inform thought leadership, investment theses, portfolio-level insights, deal due diligence, and investor relations communications • Craft content to share Canapi’s perspectives with the Fintech Alliance as well as prospective founders and investors (e.g., blog/newsletter excerpts, articles, white papers, and presentations) • Support content development and speaker preparation for Fintech Alliance events (e.g., investment spotlights, thematic fintech panels, bank c-suite executive roundtables, investor summits) • Help identify insights from Canapi portfolio, pipeline, and network data to inform how the team engages with fintechs and banks and prioritizes thought leadership efforts • Collaborate ad hoc with colleagues on other critical projects
Candidate Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, marketing, or other relevant fields • 2-5 years of work experience within financial services, fintech, investing, or consulting • Meaningful experience conducting market research, executing quantitative and strategic analyses, and synthesizing insights into executive-level presentations • Demonstrated ability work independently, drive multiple workstreams, and collaborate with different stakeholder groups • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Creative, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and enthusiastic
